I have a confession to make.

Before I started working in the magazine industry, my makeup kit was comprised of oil blotting paper, two-way face powder, lip gloss, and the occasional touch of blush or mascara.

These days, however, I am of the firm belief that my kikay kit should start thinking about going through the Master Cleanse or maybe try Bikram Yoga. And I'm just talking about what I lug--er, bring around for touch-ups.

Over the past few months I've been enjoying the arrival of CoverGirl a popular U.S. makeup brand boasting of some of Hollywood's biggest names as its endorsers, namely Drew Barrymore, Rihanna, Ellen DeGeneres, and Queen Latifah.

My favorites include the TruBlend Mineral Blush in Pure Romance which I use as a base layer for my favorite blush to create that natural looking glow (I promise, it really creates a natural glow!), the Perfect Blend Eyeliner in Cobalt Blue to keep in step with the summer trend of a pop of color with one's eyeliner, and Lash Blast for everyday eyelash definition. (It's easy to wash off, too!)
























What do I love most about it? You get so much bang for your buck! It really is easy, breezy--and affordable--to be beautiful!

The same man who created mascara in a tube with a wand--Max Factor. Born in Poland in 1877 with the last name Faktor, the "father of modern cosmetics" was the first to release the lip gloss in 1932. Max originally created makeup for a theatrical group who wore his rouges and creams and was praised by Russian royalty. In 1904, he and his family moved to the US (where his name was misspelled, thus becoming Max Factor) and made a living by creating makeup for films. Stars like Judy Garland, Susan Hayward, Marguerite Chapman, and Evelyn Keyes were the first to wear his products.

But how exactly was mascara applied before the wand? With a wet brush from a cake-like product.

Now that, in Lil Mama's words, ain't "poppin'."

He died this afternoon at the age of 44 from leukemia.  . Our condolences go out to his wife   Pia, and to his eight children  Unna, Nicolo, Francis Jr., Isabella, Elmo, Arkin, Clara,  and  Maxene.

LONDON—The city already has a Beatles museum and a Beatles-themed hotel. Its airport is even named after John Lennon. Now a Liverpool university says it is rolling out a graduate program entirely devoted to the Fab Four.

Liverpool Hope University on Tuesday said that its new master’s program, “The Beatles, Popular Music and Society,” would give students the opportunity to analyze popular music and culture through the band’s work.

“There have been over 8,000 books about The Beatles but there has never been serious academic study and that is what we are going to address,” said Mike Brocken, who is directing the program at the university, which is in the band’s hometown in northwestern England.

ck One is baaack on the radar! Banking on the idea that music is universal, the bottles are encased in eye-catching MP3 players/ speakers with “We are One” slogan emblazoned throughout the bottle in different languages to drive home the campaign message.

CK also released an original song by British rocker/model Jaime Burke (which will be available on iTunes soon! You can YouTube it in the meantime).

The campaign is reportedly huge, big wigs worked on the “We are One” ads, launched last Jan.20 (same day as Obama’s Presidential Inauguration). Steven Meisel worked on the print ad, while Francis Lawrence worked on the TVC.

I’ve always liked its musky, no-nonsense, sexy, cool scent…so I’m excited to actually smell it. It will be having two versions ck One and cK Be with notes of bergamot, cardamon, fresh pineapple, papaya, jasmine, violet, rose, nutmeg, and musk…quite an interesting mix. I just hope it doesn’t disappoint my already beat-up olfactory gland.
